Message from the Director’s Desk

                                                      Dr. R. Ezhil Vizhi

                                                      Professor and Director
                                                      Centre for Functional Materials (CFM)

        Dear All,

        Greetings!

At the outset, I heartily congratulate our faculty colleagues and research students for initiating the second annual
newsletter. The introduction of this newsletter is the result of your confidence, creativity, and innovation.

I am very glad that the CFM annual newsletter 2022 is being revived through this edition. The newsletter provides a
means of communication about the Centre, its activities, and achievements in the areas of Academics and Research.
Short biographies of our faculty and some insight into our activities to date are set out in this newsletter which we will
produce yearly from now on. In addition, the activities of the Centre will be overseen by an Advisory Board and
current members of the board are listed in this newsletter.

The centre has gained attention due to its immense publications in the diverse fields of research in functional materials
(36 quality publications in this year). CFM is offering a platform to connect a broad range of materials with focused
research groups and support multidisciplinary research necessary for technology transfer. The Centre implements its
mission via activities in research and education.

The Centre already has good links with major research institutions in Europe, Asia, and America. We will be
organising an International Conference on Functional Materials for Future Technology (IC-FMFT 2023) in the coming
year during April 2023. In this regard, the centre is bringing up a unique opportunity for students, researchers, faculty,
scientists, and experts from industries with shared interests in functional materials.

Finally, I congratulate the team for the initiative in bringing out this newsletter in a short time. As a closing note, I
would like to remind all our faculty colleagues that research and teaching are the two important activities that are to
be pursued in all seriousness for the progress of the individual faculty members as well as the Institute. Let us dedicate
ourselves to the overall growth of this great Institute and work towards the fulfilment of our Honourable Chancellor's
dream to become top 200 in the world. I hope you enjoy reading this newsletter.
        Thanking You

        Sincerely,
        Dr. R. Ezhil Vizhi
