Service Platform
We offer VIT residents and outside users a few characterization facilities to strengthen our collaborations
and fulfill the self-sustainable vision. One can access these facilities by contacting the person in charge.

Vicker's and Knoop Hardness Studies
It will be operated by putting a controlled force on the material's
surface over some time. After a particular indenter is pressed into the
surface under testing, the indentation resulting from it is measured,
and the software is also used to analyze and generate precise results.
The test is performed on a flat specimen with a polished or prepared
surface for high-accuracy measurement. The quality of the required
surface is dependent on the force used. In all tests, the indentation
perimeter and depth should be clearly defined when observed by the
microscope.

Z-Scan Technique
The Z-scan technique is used to measure the non-linear optical properties
of materials. The Z-Scan helps determine the intrinsic photophysical
properties of materials by focusing a single laser beam onto the surface of
the materials sample. Usually, measurements need to be taken at different
laser pulse energies or laser pulse lifetimes to determine what non-linear
processes are present.
