               5.1.6. Ventilation

                   •  Mechanical ventilation

               Mechanical  means  of  ventilation  Where  mechanical  means  of  ventilation  are

               provided, there should be cross ventilation and the air exchange rate shall not be less

               than 15 air changes per hour. The exhaust air shall be discharged to the atmosphere
               at a point not less than 2 m above the level of the pavement and not less than 5 m

               away from any window or fresh air intake.

                   •  Natural Ventilation
               Natural  means  of  ventilation  When  natural  means  of  ventilation  are  provided

               suitable fresh air inlet grilles shall be provided to obtain an air exchange rate of not

               less than 5 air changes. The over-all object of the installation of ventilation and air
               conditioning  facilities  in  buildings  is  to  provide  such  conditions  that  persons  can

               work, live, in safety and convenience.
