One of the major constituents of source of groundwater contamination is leachate through unsanitary landfills. Leachates generated from waste decomposition, infiltration of precipitation and surface runoff spread into the subsurface causing contamination. The proposed project aims to evaluate the fate and transport of leachate in groundwater using IoT-LoRA based multi sensor technology, preform modelling using MODFLOW and MT3MS software to predict future migration of the pollutant and its impact on the ground water. The study also remediates the leachate using bio electrochemical treatment systems and design liner system for existing landfill.
