Assistant ProfessorProject Description
One of the key metabolic hallmarks of cancer is the formation of oncometabolite through substrate-assisted catalysis in mutated enzymatic reactions. The secondary metabolite has been considered as an important molecule in ongoing cancer research activities comprising of enzyme assays, metabolite profiling using analytical instrumentations and system biology. The investigations on the formation of oncometabolite have great implications in drug design and development. In recent days, the computational quantum chemical calculations have attracted the researchers to get prior information on different cancer types before starting the experimental studies with high cost investments. The mechanistic insights for the formation of oncometabolite and its involvement in cancer cell metabolism still remain poorly understood. The proposed project work would provide the direction for minimizing extensive experimental work in cancer research. The proposed project outcome will improve our understanding in cancer and bring the biomarker discovery initiative in cancer research in India.
