Environmental pollution caused by disposal of different type of organic chemicals, development of modern industry, and population growth continues to be one of the world’s leading challenges to sustainable development. Modern developed and developing countries utilize millions of synthetic organic compounds in their civilian, commercial, and defense sectors for an everexpanding diversity of uses. As a result of widespread global usage coupled with improper handling practices, many of the organic compounds enter the environment and cause water pollution, one of the major and serious problem. Reports of endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs), pharmaceuticals products (PCPs) and pesticides among the organic compounds in waste water effluents and surface waters used as drinking water supplies have raised substantial concern in the public and regulatory agencies. Therefore, synthesis of one and unique matrix enabling detection, effective adsorption, removal of above mentioned pollutants is a fundamental requisite in smart sensor design. Aim of the present proposed research is the development of porous rhodium nanostructures which can cover all of the above mentioned environmental applications. Porous structures are responsible for adsorption of small molecules into its pores. So, the porous nanostructures will be synthesized and different carbon-based precursors will be infiltrated into the porous matrix followed by carbonization to achieve tuneable fluorescent carbon nanomaterials in the porous nanostructures.
