Project Description
The project is focused on improving the energy density of the LiFePO4 electrodes used in batteries via simultaneous laser-assisted annealing and doping of the electrode material. Laser-assisted annealing and doping is expected to allow selective processing and texturing via controlled laser energy, and laser beam shaping.
Laser texturing and annealing can be extended towards
- - Improving tribological properties of automotive parts such as cylinder, piston etc.,
- - Controlling surface tension and friction of molds and dies used in casting, forging and extrusion
- - Creating hydrophobic and hydrophilic surfaces with applications in biomedical and fuel cells
