Project Description
The public concern is increasing over possible adverse health effects due to the electromagnetic (EM) radiation from mobile phones and other RF sources. This project proposes the design and development of a mitigation technique to control the EM exposure on the individual, which is a “wearable protective shield in the form of cloth”. To prove the viability, a frequency selective surface (FSS) based flexible EM protective cloth will be developed to block the multiple bands (0.9, 1.8 GHz) of radiation sourced from mobile phone. The cloth will be designed using frequency selective surface (FSS) to provide shielding and ventilation simultaneously. Computer controlled knitting machine will be used to fabricate FSS using nylon and copper coated yarn.
