Graphical Abstract
Project Description
The proposed consortium aims at developing a technological framework for renewable energy networks and smart wireless Charging infrastructure to cater the demand from sustainable energy transportation. Hence the proposal addresses the development of 500 W three wheeled electric vehicle powered by hybrid proton exchange membrane fuel cell and lithium ion battery energized by solar photovoltaic modules
The proposal involves indigenous development of wired and wireless chargers through renewable energy sources. A 250 W proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) stack will be developed by intense research through computational fluid dynamics in optimizing the flow channel designs for both the cathode and anode. Integration of the developed 250 W PEMFC stack along with power converters for sustainable chargers, smart control systems and lithium-ion battery server as the alternate power source for driving the electric three-wheeler. The developed electric three-wheeler will thus help in reducing the pollution in urban cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi for the mass transportation.
This proposal is the outcome of the Distinguished International Associates Round – III, Royal Academy of Engineering UK in collaboration with Teesside University, UK and VIT India.
