Graphical Abstract
Project Description
The relationship between bioenergetic pathways and immune functions has been recognized by many studies. Metabolic activity determines T-cell fate, as well as memory cell formation. When cellular metabolism is disrupted, immune cells experience stress and their functions are compromised. Hence understanding the dynamics of immune cell metabolism will be of use in targeting the immune system for efficient pathogen clearance. Studies on immunometabolomics in tuberculosis (TB) have focused on macrophages, but the role of metabolism on effector immune cells,e.g., T cells is obscure. Moreover, this study will focus on glycolysis, TCA cycle and oxidative phosphorylation
