3.1.7 What percentage of the total budget is earmarked for research?
Give details of heads of expenditure, financial allocation and actual
utilization.
About 5% of the total university expenditure is spent on research
related activities such as creation / renovation of research laboratories,
purchase of new instruments, service / repair of the existing instruments,
financial assistance for the scholars, travel expenditure related to the external
members, honorarium for the external members / thesis evaluators,
recruitment of research personnel, among others. The details of the expenses
will be provided during the visit.
3.1.8 In its budget, does the university earmark funds for promoting
research in its affiliated colleges? If yes, provide details.

3.1.9 Does the university encourage research by awarding Post Doctoral
Fellowships/Research Associateships? If yes, provide details like number
of students registered, funding by the university and other sources.
Two types of funding are available for the promotion of research.
Post-doctoral fellowships have been initiated this year. As of
December 31, 2013 there are
six
post-doctoral fellows and
four
Research Scientists in the University. In addition, the scholars joining
for their research degrees (especially Ph.D) have been provided with
Research Assistantship. As of October 2013, 401 scholars are availing
of the Assistantship. Details on the number of Research Assistants
with respect to different schools are given below.
