What policies/systems are in place to academically recharge and
rejuvenate teachers (e.g. providing research grants, study leave,
nomination to national/international conferences/seminars, in-service
training, organizing national/international conferences etc.)?
The origin for the conduct of the seminars / conference / workshop stems from
the faculty and after several discussions, is approved by the respective School
Dean. School Deans are authorized to nominate the faculty members with
financial
support
to
participate
in
national/international
conferences/workshops. The University provides seed money for the research
proposals in emerging areas and of national / international importance. The
University also grants permission (with / without pay) to faculty members to
pursue higher education at reputed Universities, either within India or abroad.
The details of faculty members benefited through this scheme are given under
the ‘Evaluative Report of the Schools’.
2.4.7
How many faculty received awards / recognitions for excellence in
teaching at the state, national and international level during the last four
years?
Cognizant has initiated to give award for excellence in teaching to VIT
faculty members. Under this banner, the following are the recipients of the
said awards.

How many faculty underwent staff development programmes

Development programmes are considered mandatory for all the faculty
members. They are conducted by the Human Resource (HR), the Academic
Staff College (HR) and by the individual schools. About
626 (from AY 2010
- 2011 onwards)
faculty members have attended the development programme
conducted by HR and

such programmes were organized by the ASC for
