Among the M. Tech and M.Sc. Biotechnology programmes again,
unifying the two programmes is not possible as they are completely from
two different streams: M.Sc students with Basic Biological Science
background focusing on the research needs and demands whereas M.Tech
students are with Engineering / Technology background focusing on the
industry needs and demands. There is marked difference in the curriculum
and syllabus content of these two programs as given below:
for the M. Tech Biotechnology programme:
1. Elgibility is 12 + 4 or 12 + 3 + 2 are only eligible (Post graduates in
science also enroll for this programme).
2. Students undergo courses related to chemical engineering
3. Most of courses focus on scale up process, application oriented and
engineering aspects
4. Also the credit structure of M. Tech and M.Sc. programmes are
markedly different
However, equal opportunities are given to students for involvement in co-
curricular, and extra-curricular activities.
