Library as a Learning Resource
4.2.1
Does the library have an Advisory Committee? Specify the
composition of the committee. What significant initiatives have been
taken by the committee to render the library student/user friendly?

Library Advisory Committee
headed by the Vice Chancellor and
consisting of faculty representatives from all the schools meet periodically to
review the functioning and the requirements with regard of the library
facilities. Faculty members from different schools are nominated for a two-
year term.
The following are the initiatives taken recently:
Additional building in the main library with six floors and a seating
capacity of 600
Increase in the number of discussion rooms
Purchase of periodicals (including journals) and books
Presentation of streaming videos of all the in-house databases to
facilitate effective usage of the subscribed e-resources.
Scheduling induction programmes for new faculty/freshers about the
Library resources and facilities.
Access to e-resources at School libraries/Hostels/Staff Quarters.
Introduction of E-book access facility.

On Holidays : Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays - 9.00 AM – 8.00 PM
During examinations : 7.30 AM – 12.30 AM
During Vacation: 8.00 AM – 8.00 AM
* Layout of the library
The library is a three-floored building connected to an annex building
with six-floors
The library is fully air-conditioned
