4.3.2 the optimum development of human potential by means of our
intellectual expertise;
4.3.3 a commitment to excellence in everything we do;
4.3.4 just and fair treatment of human beings, other living beings, the
environment, and human remains.
4.4 Responsibility in Positions of Power and Zero Tolerance to
Harassment
All staff and faculty of VIT University undertake to pledge that:
4.4.1 they shall behave in a fair and responsible manner, upholding high ideals
of moral and societal ethics and integrity; holding any academic, research and
managerial positions of power;
4.4.2 there shall be zero tolerance to harassment, whatsoever, of any
individual or group of individuals, especially sexual harassment by persons
holding advantageous positions of power and authority;
4.4.3 there shall be neither intimidation nor favouritism in the pursuit,
supervision of work, teaching, other academic and research activities
concerned with the University ;
4.4.4 persons having the advantage of position and power shall neither expect
nor extract non-professional, personal work from their students, subordinates
and colleagues.
4.4.5 persons in positions of power shall strive to create a congenial work
environment so that all individuals as well as the University can grow and
benefit without fear or prejudice;
5. RESPONSIBLITIES
5.1 Accurate Information
Staff and faculty of VIT University shall strive to be transparent in the
provision of accurate and sufficiently detailed information to students,
academic peers, administrative and managerial colleagues, and other
stakeholders whose work depends on such information, in accordance with
generally accepted academic and scientific practice, and the freedom of access
to information (Right to Information Act).
5.2 Competence and Expertise
Many people depend on the competence and expertise of VIT staff and faculty
in:
5.2.1 designing and teaching courses;
5.2.2 generating, executing and presenting research; and
5.2.3 making expertise available to stakeholders;
therefore, VIT staff and faculty shall develop and employ their competence
and expertise in order to facilitate the aforementioned tasks.
5.3 Development of Human Potential
Staff and faculty of VIT shall accept responsibility to develop the human
potential of students and colleagues through, among other things:
5.3.1 providing state of the art course contents;
5.3.2 using the best available and most appropriate teaching methods;
5.3.3 developing and sharing quality research;
